On the chilly night of December 26th, 2025, CityMuralCollective muralists gathered to bring vibrant art to the walls leading to the parking lot of the Seoul Falk Flee Market in Dongdaemungu, Seoul.
Drawing inspiration from Muyongchong (Tomb of the Dancers), a notable representative Goguryeo tomb from the 5th century, this mural project highlights the tomb's famous mural paintings that vividly depict dancing figures, mounted warriors, and dynamic hunting scenes. The name Muyongchong reflects the vivid imagery of dancers adorning its walls.
One defining characteristic of these ancient murals is their strong sense of motion, expressive lines, and intense flat color planes. These stylistic elements underscore the energetic aesthetic that sets Goguryeo art apart from other ancient East Asian traditions.
CityMuralCollective aimed to showcase this distinctive traditional artwork on the walls of the Seoul Falk Flee Market parking lot, creating an impactful entrance for every visitor. Through this mural, we aspire to evoke a sense of reflection on the dynamic beauty and power of the Goguryeo period.
